Latest Guidebook Progress

Slow but steady progress is being made on the guidebook lately and it looks like the book will be out sometime this summer. Below I’ve added some more low resolution rough draft guidebook samples of some of the newest chapters. To see other samples visit one of these older posts:

The Southern Wind River Range Chapter is going to be dropped for this edition because of time constraints. More then likely that chapter will develop into it’s own guidebook eventually. For now I am going to focus on day climbing areas only.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting the project. I’ve been getting good photos and route/area beta that has been essential to the development of the guidebook.

Guidebook Publish Date Has Been Set

The new Jackson Hole and Pinedale, Wyoming climbing guide is set to be published this coming spring. Many of the chapters are in final draft form and I will be able to complete the rest of the chapters over the winter. I will post updates as the book’s progress moves forward.

New Chapters

I have received some inquiries as to whether or not the book will include Rock Springs Buttress, The Tram Area, and Darby Canyon. The answer is YES! In addition, I am adding a new gem located in Afton called Swift Creek Spire. I posted a few previews below of what those chapter introductions are looking like. Feel free to to ask questions via comments to this post or contacting me directly.

Work on the 2nd edition of “Rock Climbing Jackson Hole & Pinedale, Wyoming – A Climber’s Guide” has made huge progress since my last blog post in March. The book has reached 215 pages and it looks as though the final product will be approximately 300 pages long. Nonetheless, there is still a lot of work, climbing, and research to be done before I will feel comfortable sending the book to press.

The following screenshots and Table of Contents PDF will give you an idea of how the book is looking. As always I love constructive criticism, ideas, and questions. Please feel free to post comments below.

The 2nd edition Rock Climbing Guide for Jackson Hole and Pinedale, Wyoming needs good rock climbing photography. Please Contribute.

The new guidebook is full color with a layout that is very conducive to lots of photography. Unfortunately, the author is missing climbing/action photography for several areas and in particular an excellent shot for the cover.

If you think you may have some climbing photos or even route photos that would look good please consider contributing to the 2nd edition of the guide book.

The author would love to print climbing photos contributed from the local climbing community. A small budget is available for photography but we can’t pay very much for photos. Jackson Hole Climbing Guide – 2nd Edition

The first edition of Rock Climbing Jackson Hole and Pinedale, Wyoming – A Day Climber’s guide sold out last summer. As a result, a 2nd edition guidebook is in the works! Recently, my day job (working at Acroterra) has settled down a bit and I have had some time free up. As such, I have been devoting about 50% of my work time on the 2nd Edition Guidebook.

What to Expect Out of the New Guidebook:

A professionally published, full color guidebook re-written from the ground up. The new guidebook will include all of the previously published areas plus updates. In addition, there will be several new chapters added for the Pinedale, Jackson and Driggs regions. Check back for a full list of new chapters.

You are currently looking at the temporary ClimbingWyoming.com website. After several delays and time constraints working on the new Jackson/Pinedale rock climbing guide I came to the realization that although I needed to get ClimbingWyoming.com live, I didn’t have enough time to complete it before spring hit. So I decided to make a compromise. Launch this simple and temporary site so I could post important news about the new guidebook and website before the climbing season hits. A quick solution to get things going until I can complete the new and shiny ClimbingWyoming.com.
