All New & Shiny Version 2.0

A new and improved website is finally here! Welcome to the latest and greatest version of ClimbingWyoming.com. This website will serve as the online supplement to the guidebook: Rock Climbing Jackson Hole and Pinedale, Wyoming – A Day Climber’s Guide which is tentatively planned to hit the bookshelves this summer. To learn more about the purpose and goals of this website, refer to the About page.

What’s New

The previous edition of ClimbingWyoming.com was nothing more then a simple online presence. As the press date for the 2nd edition guide nears, it was time to upgrade. Here’s some of the new site features:

• An all-new look and feel.
• 2nd Edition Guidebook information and a Sneak Peek Preview.
• Guidebook Advertising Information
• Photo Gallery – because climbing photos kickass!
• An improved blog.
• A foundation to build on.

That’s it until the new guidebook is finished at which time new features and supplement content will be added. Keep reading for more information…

Current priorities lie in finishing the guidebook but once complete, priorities will shift to adding new website features and supplement content to support the book. Below is a fairly ambitious list of goals. Fortunately, my day job is software engineering so none of these features are unreasonable and many are actually easy to implement. To be realistic, producing the content to go with the features will to be hardest and most time consuming part. With that said, the following will be added gradually and supported by many local climbers.

1. Interactive Google Maps Section:
   1. Climbing Destinations
   2. Approach Trails
2. Google Earth mapping:
   1. 3D renderings climbing destinations and terrain
   2. 3D flyby videos with voiceover
   3. Photo overlays
   4. USGS quadrangle overlays
   5. Downloadable mapping and GPS data
3. A collection of key USGS downloadable maps in PDF.
4. Climbing Destinations section:
   1. Supplement information for each area in the guide including:
      1. Photo galleries
      2. Additional routes and areas not included in the guide
      3. Links to MountainProject.com, RockClimbing.com, and TetonClimbing.com with additional route information from different, independent authors.
5. A free-to-download bouldering guide for Jackson and Pinedale, Wyoming.
   This guide will be an ongoing project supported by many local climbers.
6. Links and Resources from 3rd party websites including:
   1. An RSS Feed Reader to syndicate content from online climbing communities, magazines, YouTube.com, and other climbing related social networking websites.
   2. A collection of valuable links and online resources.
   3. A New Routes Forum and Wiki
7. A Facebook Page
